What Does Disney Vacation Club Lounge Mean For Tomorrowland?

When the timeshare perk opens next year in underused “space” in a perennial white elephant structure, it will be located in Tomorrowland, which will be Disneyland’s first Disney Vacation Life member lounge. However, what does this mean for any remodeling plans for the technological themed land?

On the second floor of the Star Wars: Launch Bay building in Tomorrowland, the Disney Resorts Star View Station is scheduled to open in the first half of 2023.

There is a lot of “space” in Tomorrowland that is not being used, such as the Magic Eye Theater, the previous track for the PeopleMover, the Starcade arcade, the TomorrowLanding gift shop, and the vast bulk of the Star Wars Launch Bay.

Mouse watchers are speculating that Disney will announce a complete overhaul of Disneyland’s futuristic themed land during the upcoming D23 Expo, which will take place from September 9-11 at the Anaheim Convention Center. This is due to the fact that Tomorrowland is currently in an archaic and half-empty state.

At the very least, Disneyland will not be demolishing Star Wars: Launch Bay within the next year or so, especially considering that the new DVC lounge is scheduled to open some time prior to July 1.

The Star Wars Launch Bay, which was formerly the location of Innoventions, America Sings, and Carousel of Revolution, has been Tomorrowland’s “white elephant” for a very long time.

The massive circular building in Tomorrowland, which has two stories and a spinning first floor, occupies over an acre of valuable real estate in the theme park. More than a year after Disneyland reopened following a lengthy COVID-19 closure of the park, Star Wars Launch Bay is still one of the few areas that is still closed. The enormous hall, which was designed to seem like a convention center, has been put to limited use for hosting exclusive character meet-and-greets, viewing pyrotechnics, and selling products related to special events.

Any redesign of Tomorrowland at Disneyland would very probably require either the repurposing of Star Wars Launch Bay or its complete removal from the park. Due to the fact that Disney’s most devoted followers are getting ready to move in on the top floor, it is quite improbable that this will happen any time in the near future.

The new DVC lounge that was just installed in Star Wars Launch Bay is, at best, a temporary installation that can be easily changed or moved. A Magic Key yearly passholder lounge that was quite similar to the one that used to be in the Starcade arcade was a temporary addition that went away without a trace after a few months.

The first Disney Vacation Club lounge at Disneyland will look and feel very much like the other members-only DVC locations, such as the one above Disney’s Contemporary Hotel and the one within Epcot’s Imagination pavilion at Walt Disney World.

About a dozen Disney Vacation Club resorts can be found across the state of Florida, in addition to resorts in Hawaii and South Carolina. Inside Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel in Anaheim are a few dozen DVC Villas. The hotel is located in Anaheim. In 2023, the new Disney Vacation Club timeshare facility that is now being constructed at the Disneyland Hotel will finally open its doors to guests.

Club members will have access to a variety of amenities, including seating, WiFi, charging stations, and air conditioning at the exclusive DVC lounge located in Tomorrowland.

The DVC lounge will have the atmosphere of a Star View Station thanks to its “sleekly designed” interior. Wall coverings in the conceptual artwork are depicted as having images of space stations, rocket ships, future cities, and astronaut outfits. One of the murals depicts what appears to be the Monsanto Mighty Microscope, which was a ride on Adventure Thru Inner Space that used to shrink riders down to the size of an atom. In the background is the PeopleMover.
